Peter Frazer: I want to sincerely thank the Deputy Prime Minister Hon Michael McCormack MP for his steadfast support of SARAH's road safety work, and in particular, our annual event, #YellowRibbon National #RoadSafety Week. As Deputy Prime Minister, he has many responsibilities, but I know he is driven by a genuine desire to minimize the significant road trauma Australians experience every day.

So I want to acknowledge his leadership in fighting for and getting that $2 billion road safety fund that was announced in the recent Federal Budget. This money will directly upgrade the safety of our current infrastructure. Indeed as iRAP notes, this funding will deliver around 3,000 km of practical life-saving road treatments and improvements and as such, will make it safer to travel the roads Australians use every single day.

Lastly, I have known the Deputy Prime Minister for many years now and I reckon I have a pretty good idea as to why road safety is his mission. You see, as a husband, as a Dad, and indeed as a community leader, he not only recognises the importance of road safety generally... he is personally committed to getting everyone home safe to their loved ones ... every day ... no exceptions!

So thank you Deputy Prime Minister for your commitment to saving all those who are vulnerable on our roads and highways.
